Gators for Obama

Gators for Obama is a committee of the UF College Democrats, formed in September 2011. The committee allows members of UFCD and other student supporters of Obama to more effectively organize our campus for the 2012 election. Gators for Obama is the foundation for a broad coalition of students working to turn UF’s campus blue and bring thousands of students to the polls.

In an election that promises to be highly consequential, many of President Obama’s signature achievements for students are at risk, including an expansion of Pell Grants, allowing young adults under the age of 26 to remain on their parent’s health insurance plan, and the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

With the election rapidly approaching, we invite Obama supporters from across the political spectrum to join us in our commitment to re-elect the President. Here’s how you can help:

Phonebanks: Every Thursday from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, join us in Matherly 103 to call past Obama supporters to get them involved with the campaign. This is an easy and fun way for everyone to make a difference!

Voter Registration: Despite the legal obstacles, Gators for Obama remains committed to getting new and old voters alike to the polls in November 2012. Voter registration is one of the most important activities in any campaign, and we want you to help! Sign up for a VR Training Session so you can join us every Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Canvassing: Closer to the election, GFO will be going door–to-door to make sure that Obama supporters will be voting for him in November.
